30 April 2024

Short session—stiff and expecting rain.

I almost felt disappointed when I left the park after only 30 or 40 minutes and without trying much more than manuals (got a nice one, actually), but was vindicated when the rain started not long after I was on the road. Still, I shouldn’t have felt bad about leaving “early.”

Since slamming on my hip a couple of weeks ago, my body has been slow to come around. The hip feels good, but everything surrounding it is tight and uncomfortable. Now, that stiffness has spread to my shoulders and neck as it dissipates from my hips and core.

In one sense, I’m happy the soreness is spreading—the epicenter is working itself out, loosening up. Before long, I’ll be back to normal. It’s just the in-between that’s a bummer.

I was optimistic about having a mellow ride this morning, but as I skated around the park, I could tell I would tighten up shortly after finishing, and there was a busy day ahead.

Maybe tomorrow will go more smoothly.

2 May 2024

Another day of not feeling 100%. Still, after yesterday, when I got to the park and almost immediately went home (for a few reasons), I wasn’t sure I would make it to the minimum to call it a skate session.

No 50-50s and, otherwise, an almost-manual. It might’ve looked like a waste of time from the outside, but I can tell that if I don’t keep active and stretching, I’ll never loosen up enough to go full speed.

Better to have some time on a board than no skateboarding at all, though, eh?
